JAHADI offers the very first Aboriginal tours in Tasmania

All tours at Jahadi can be tailored to suit individual or group needs and prices are negotiated upon booking your tour

JAHADI INDIGENOUS EXPERIENCES offers full day tours and 2 Hour Experiences. There are a wide range of activities catering for individuals or groups, the curious and the adventurous. The activities are provided and administered by fully trained personnel and comprehensive insurance is offered.

Full Day Tour:   9am-4pm

 

2 Hour Culture Experience:

Bus departs 9am from Jahadi

A range of different full day tours are on offer.

 

This tour will visit the Meander Valley area taking a unique look at the Tassie Wilderness. Visit Kooparoona Niara (the Great Western Tiers) see rivers and streams, mountains and wildlife, Have a restful relaxing day or take a short walk amongst the trees & giant man ferns in the area. Jahadi staff will provide both morning and afternoon tea and a full barbeque lunch in the bush along with traditional aboriginal bush tuckers.

Jahadi will ensure a good time for all with a different and unique way of seeing the Tasmanian wilderness, giving you the opportunity to experience Tasmania’s very first Aboriginal tour.

Taking in the unique Tasmanian wilderness, also experience some traditional bush tuckers while having a barbeque lunch in parts of the wonderfull Tasmanian bush land where you can see:

This is a Unique opportunity to be able to have a look at the oldest Culture still living to-day, Take a trip with the Aboriginal Guides and experience first hand how and what it was like before Settlement and see the survival of these wonderfull people and their Culture to-day!

 

 

2hr package includes a tag along trip to some picturesque caves or may be some cascading water falls and have the Aboriginal guide explain the uses of these places and why the land held such Importance too the Aboriginal People.

 

 

Upon returning to the JAHADI base and taking part in a Ochre and smoke Ceremony; You will then take a rest on some seats as you try some Bush Billy-tea and some wonderfull home made Damper, Then sample some real bush foods such as Kangaroo Ball's and Walliby Nuts, They are great! also see other bush foods if available, Such as Mutton Bird and some native cutty Grass.

 

 

These Tuckers are for you to experience how the Aboriginal people eat in the Past, See a small show of Dance and story telling, Before splitting into groups and seeing the Art gallery, Make a set of clap sticks, watch art and craft being made by the Aboriginal people.

 

 

YyTaamba Art studio is a wonderfull experience with the Owner Carol Horton giving full Interpretation and tours of the gallery.

 

 

After this is all finished you may want to try your hand at Throwing the Spear's and Waddie's (hunting stick) See how hard to may-be hunt and catch your own evening meal. Ha Ha. After this the 2hrs will have rushed past and time for another adventure starts.
